Participate in the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition

The Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition (TBRRC) is working to increase collaboration on resilience planning to address extreme weather and climate risks.   To learn more, read the Memorandum of Understanding.

We invite companies, universities and non-profit organizations to become Resiliency Coalition Partners.  Your knowledge and expertise are crucial and your input  is needed on a range of topics from community vulnerability, housing, energy resiliency, green infrastructure, to economics and business resiliency. As a Resiliency Coalition Partner, your organization will be invited to meetings and webinars to discuss local risks, priorities, and strategies. You will be a part of important efforts which will advance resiliency planning, identify best practices, innovative policies and funding opportunities in our communities.

Workgroup Descriptions

The Resilience Coalition Management Planning Committee advises TBRPC staff on the current work, obstacles, and accomplishments of resiliency coalition member governments. The MPC also serves as a forum for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. Local government staff working in planning, emergency management, resiliency, sustainability, stormwater, transportation, floodplain management, and development review are encouraged to join.

In 2023 the Clean Energy work group will focus on Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Planning. The Clean Energy workgroup will support Local Governments efforts for developing objectives and plans to increase energy efficiency, fuel reduction, and meet clean energy goals, and innovative energy resilience projects. The workgroup will discuss technical data needs and processes for conducting inventory assessments and developing baselines, metrics, methodologies, and cost-benefit analysis. The workgroup efforts will support regional dialogue and collaboration on best practices. The workgroup will also look for opportunities to pursue grants for technical assistance, and support implementation. The group plans to meet monthly in person.

Public and private sector representatives are welcome. For more information, please contact Cara Woods Serra, at cara@tbrpc.org.

The Resilient Shorelines Workgroup will work to address imminent changes and impacts to the economic and environmental value of shorelines as a result of sea level rise (SLR) and storm surge. The RSAS will work on recommendations, guidelines, and standards in a collaborative effort to provide adaptive strategies for shoreline protection and improvement for all the local jurisdictions that have signed on to the TBRRC.

The workgroup will address the needs, standards, locations, and use of living shorelines, seawalls, construction, green and open space, drainage, wetlands, environmental restoration, and the policies that impact them, among other matters that are and will be experiencing changes resulting from SLR.

A coordinated effort is essential to the sustainability of all local jurisdictions with economic and environmental interests in the vital area where the land meets the sea. Utilizing a collaborative effort, the RSAS will address the effects of SLR at developed and undeveloped locations as well as areas suitable for redevelopment. Thus, the Workgroup is seeking agency experts, academic researchers, private consultants or others interested in being a part of the RSAS that have technical or program responsibilities in engineering, environmental resources, floodplain management, planning, permitting, or policy analysis.

Public and private sector representatives are welcome. For more information, please contact Alana Todd at alana@tbrpc.org.
